Let’s face it, life is busy! You are probably so busy trying to get out the door on time, meet deadlines, and remember everyone’s schedules. Sometimes you get so busy that you forget about your nutrition. However, even when you are on the run, your health still matters!
An article on Natural Succulent was very insightful when it comes to nutrition in busy schedules. They said, “The food you eat is what powers your body. It’s important to eat well to be at your best, especially if your days are usually jam-packed. You’ll need all the energy you can get.” We agree! When you have a busy day, or week, or life, it is important to properly fuel your body with good nutrition so that you have the energy you need.
So how can you do it?
Pack a lunch. A great way to know that you will be able to have a meal filled with a variety of healthy foods is to pack your own lunch. The night before a busy day, take time to prepare a healthy lunch full of whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and protein. We love having whole wheat crackers with a boiled egg and including sides of apple slices and baby carrots.
Read the entire menu. If you end up finding you have no time and have to eat out, make sure you know what you are getting. Read all of your options and look at the calories and other nutrition facts to make sure you are making a good decision.
Prepare fruits and veggies. Fruits and veggies are very important as they have lots of essential nutrients your body needs! Stock up on fruits and vegetables that tend to last at least a week or two. Have these washed and ready to go so that when you are in a hurry you can grab them and go. Another great way to get fruits and vegetables in if you are in a hurry is through whole food supplements. Some of our favorites come from Balance of Nature because they only use whole fruits and vegetables in their products.
Double your recipe. If you find that one day you have time to cook a delicious meal for dinner, make extra! If you double the recipe you will have leftovers that you can eat on throughout the week. You can also freeze them and save them for later when you have a busy schedule again! Check out our post about meal planning for some more tips.
Now you know that it actually is possible to maintain a healthy lifestyle even if you are super busy! Try out these tips and your busy self will thank you for the energy that comes from healthy decisions.
